Hi, I’m Kristi!
I am motivated, exuberant, and have a passion for helping others learn to team play. I am a Dance Alive Coach and I am here to assist you in integrating and implementing greater levels of movement in your life!
I recognize you are the leader of your life, and that you have the power to create joyful, and fulfilling experiences, that make you truly happy! I am here to guide you, through using the Dance Alive System, to take your next step towards reaching your goals, and practicing the skills to create tangible results in your health, home, relationships, and career.
I am not a privileged person or born a genius, I have participated in life fully. I have been living in the Dance Alive training for the past 24 years and continue to delve into the teachings of the Dance Alive system. I have learned to work hard for what I want, to make myself happy, and to team play everywhere I go. I am an apprentice of life! I am continually seeking out mentors to help me build my skills in all areas of my life. I make mistakes, I course correct, I make more mistakes, and I keep course correcting. I have learned that happiness does not come from the outside, it comes from inside you. Someone else may irritate me, or do something I don't like, but I am the one who has the power to learn to manage and direct myself to team play.
Growing up in the Karou household, we (my Mom, Dad, and 2 older brothers) learned how to work as a team with each other and to cheer for each other instead of compete with one another. We were expected to work as a team doing EVERYTHING: asking for something we wanted, playing a game, and even cleaning up the kitchen. We were taught to respect individuality, as each of us, had different styles and personalities. We never used vulgarity, or foul language, and were trained to think before we speak. We learned to look at both sides of any situation or problem. We were not a "perfect family," we all had tantrums and challenges, but we learned to problem solve, to manage ourselves, and to make ourselves happy.
Growing up, I never realized the impact of how I was raised. My education and work have continued to build on this solid foundation, that I am now happy to share with others! Everything I teach is a direct result of my 28 years of training, and doing, and is how I live my life: practical and fun!
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from California State University Northridge with a degree in Child and Adolescent Development. I was the recipient of the Dean's award, and was recognized a year after graduating as a Distinguished Alumni. I participated fully in activities while in college; I was a University New Student Orientation Leader, was a part of my Department's Peer Mentorship Program, and Peer Academic Leaders Program. Throughout high school and college, I worked with children and families.
I was the manager of a Surf Camp for 7 years, led outdoor adventure programs, and worked in after school tutoring programs. It was through these work experiences, through my college education, and through my training in Dance Alive, that I found what I love to do: Teach individuals and families, through the Dance Alive system, to Balance, Function, and Excel in all areas of their life!
I look forward to working with you and assisting you, as you integrate greater levels of movement in your life, and work steadily towards your goals!
